GRID LOVE

GRID LOVE

Grid Love is a publication composed of typographic studies, functional event posters, and other media all created with an emphasis on grid-based design systems.

Many "thumbnails" were created as a precursor to any work with actual typography. These consisted of various boxes and circles over a 3x3 grid.

Next we turned our thumbnails into small posters for various events of our choosing. The boxes were filled with visual content, and we experimented with font, size variation, and other aspects of visual composition in regards to the words/letters of the our content.

Throughout the course of this project we completed also:

-a zine, based around "found grids" from real life (we observed all kinds of architecture around town and drew grids based on them);

-a "glue book" of 21 spreads filled with collaged magazine scraps, heavily emphasizing experimentation with visual hierarchy;

-various "30-minute type challenges," experimental type exercises done within 30 minutes.
